of a Knowledge Management Capability for a Large Mining House
Business Imperative:
The Associate was asked to advise on the implementation of a KM
solution for a large SA mining house. The system was designed to
position senior geologists as an expert online forum for more
junior staff to address queries to
Complication:
The technology was successfully implemented but the senior geologists
paid lip service only to the initiative. The questions from the junior
staff went unanswered and the project was considered a failure
Solution:
Together with a Human Performance expert , Louise led workshops with
the senior geologists to discuss a carrot and stick
approach to knowledge sharing
Impact/Outcome:
The senior geologists contributed to the solution and
knowledge sharing KPI’s were built into the Human
Performance management system
